Automation is not authority
An agent can assemble evidence, propose a response, and move routine work. The accountable owner still carries the business consequence.
Strong systems make that boundary visible. They do not hide it behind a confidence score.
Design the checkpoint
A checkpoint should name the owner, evidence, permitted action, escalation path, and trace left behind.
Low-risk work can move quickly. Material decisions should arrive prepared for a human call.
Keep the loop connected
The decision, action, exception, and final outcome should return to shared context. That is how an agentic system improves without erasing accountability.
